Privacy Notice

This notice explains how the Asia-Pacific Tech Gateway beta processes information when you search and browse indexed technology sources.

Beta policy draft Last updated: 4 August 2026

This notice is a beta policy draft. It is subject to institutional review and may change before the Gateway’s public release.

1. Scope

This notice applies to the Asia-Pacific Tech Gateway website and its search functions. The Gateway does not currently provide user accounts, newsletters, payment functions or its own contact form.

If you follow a link to the APCTT contact form or to an indexed technology database, the privacy practices of that website apply to your interaction there.

2. Information processed

Depending on how you use the Gateway, the following information may be processed:

  • Search activity: words entered in the search box, selected filters, result pages and source platforms queried.
  • Semantic search learning: a one-way hash of a normalized query, related technical terms and usage metadata. The original query text is not stored in the semantic-learning database. Queries that appear to contain an email address, URL or telephone number are excluded from this learning process.
  • Popular-topic analytics: interactions with an approved list of topic labels may be counted in daily aggregates and used for a rolling 30-day view. Arbitrary search text is not recorded through the popular-topic analytics function.
  • Technical information: hosting and security infrastructure may process information such as an IP address, browser and device type, referring page, requested URL, date and time, and response status. Because searches use a web request, search words may also appear temporarily in infrastructure access logs.

Please do not enter personal, confidential or sensitive information in the search field.

3. How information is used

Information is processed only as needed to:

  • retrieve, rank and filter technology records from indexed sources;
  • suggest relevant technical terms and improve search relevance over time;
  • operate, secure, troubleshoot and monitor the beta service;
  • manage service quotas and prevent misuse; and
  • present aggregate popular topics for easier discovery.

The Gateway does not sell personal data and does not use search activity for commercial advertising.

4. External services and source platforms

The Gateway connects to external systems in order to provide its functions. Depending on your action:

  • source databases and their APIs may receive your search term so that matching records can be returned;
  • Google Gemini may receive a non-sensitive search query to generate related technical terms;
  • Google Translate may receive text that you choose to translate;
  • Google Fonts may receive ordinary technical requests needed to deliver web fonts; and
  • Render hosts the beta application and may process operational and access-log information.

These providers may process information under their own privacy notices and retention practices. When you select a result and leave the Gateway, the destination website is responsible for its own content and data practices.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

The Gateway does not currently use account cookies or its own advertising cookies. Embedded or external services, including translation functions, may use cookies or similar technologies under their own policies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, although disabling them may affect some functions.

6. Retention and security

  • Popular-topic aggregates are calculated over a rolling 30-day period.
  • Search response caches and hashed semantic-learning records are retained only as needed to operate and improve the beta service and may be reset during maintenance or deployment.
  • Hosting, API and infrastructure providers may retain operational logs according to their own schedules.

Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect the service. No method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

7. Your choices

  • Do not include personal, confidential or sensitive information in a search.
  • You may browse the listed technology sources directly without submitting a Gateway search.
  • You may control cookies and clear browsing data through your browser.
  • You may contact APCTT regarding a request or concern involving personal data associated with the Gateway.

8. Updates and contact

This notice may be updated as the beta develops, including when new sources or service providers are introduced. The “Last updated” date above will show the latest revision.

Questions about this notice may be submitted through the APCTT contact form ↗.
